Secrets Behind Shatta Wale’s Move From ‘Grass To Grace’

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly referred to as Shatta Wale, is known to be a very controversial man.

However, even that has not stopped him from creating the needed impact and raising his stock on the Ghanaian music scene.

There are people who believe Shatta Wale is not liked due to his lifestyle, but the truth is that there are many more who like him yet do not even realize it.

Around town, you would hear people say he is disrespectful, arrogant, lacks manners and whatnot, but don’t be surprised to see these same people jamming to his music like crazy.

There is a reason the “Ayoo” hitmaker remains a step above his competitors despite the backlash that comes his way.

Below are 4 reasons why Shatta Wale is still on top of his game:

1. He’s controversial

There is a trick to getting famous which many people may not have figured out yet. That trick is being controversial and Shatta Wale knows it very well.

Since he relaunched his career, the Shatta Movement boss has been entangled in one controversy or the other, starting from his feud with organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) in 2013, where he rained insults on them till he was eventually sued.

Also, last year during the S concert, Shatta Wale infamously slapped his bodyguard on stage when the latter attempted to impede a fan. All these may come as bad press, but news thrives on controversy and controversy keeps Shatta Wale in the limelight.

2. His hardcore fan base

There is one thing that you cannot take away from Shatta Wale and that is his electric fan base. The self-acclaimed dancehall king has one of the most passionate and committed fans in the country at the moment.

These are not just fans who follow his music, these are fans who follow his life and whatever he does as well, no matter what.

Even when he appears wrong, they will still back him, and really for an artiste to thrive in a music industry that has proved to be very unkind to saints, this sort of support is very important. Fortunately for Shatta Wale, he has it and it has kept him going.

3. His diversionary antics

Is there a more active Ghanaian artiste on social media than Shatta Wale? Perhaps you would have to dig deep to find one.

The Zylofon Media signee has built strong connection with his fans and the main reason why he has managed to sustain that is his diversionary antics.

Many a time, you would find Shatta Wale in all sort of funny moods on social media. He can be very funny, really, and that sort of comedy aspect of his endears him to many people, not just his fans. That also veers attention off his usually abrasive character.

4. Catchy music lines

When it comes to musicians who know exactly how to craft lyrics to get the attention of their fans, then Shatta Wale should be number on any list.

The Zylofon Media signee has not had the best of quality in the production of his songs but one thing that has ingratiated him to music fans is his catchy melodies and choruses.

Take “ayoo”, “bullet for you”, “taking over” and the rest and you will immediately realize that Shatta is a master of crafting lyrics that are easy for fans to sing along. Obviously, such an attribute is bound to keep him on top of his game.

Shatta Wale attacks Hitz FM’s Andy Dosty, Prince Tsegah

It appears dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale is an ardent listener of Hitz FM’s flagship show, Daybreak Hitz.

This is because the Shatta Movement man swiftly responded to host of You Sey Wetin on Hitz FM, Prince Tsegah, when he expressed his opinion, saying Shatta’s reign as King was coming to an end.

According to Prince, Shatta was gradually losing his command in the entertainment industry, advising him to look for new strategies that will help him to regain control.

I think Shatta Wale is gradually losing his shine. Back then, when he coughs, Ghana catches a cold. Now when he sneezes, people will open their mouths and they will still be fine. However, I do not want to see him out of the scene. He should find another strategy to reign again”, Prince opined

Da Don’s fellow Hitz FM host, Andy Dosty, however, disagreed with his colleague’s assertions, saying Shatta might be out of the media space due to his soon-to-be-released album.

But before the two could finish with their banter, Shatta who had tuned into the show quickly responded to Da Don’s allegations through a series of tweets.

Shatta described the panellists as low-minded people know nothing about music let alone discuss his career on radio.

@Hitz1039FM  you guys talk like children on radio …Hype my foot ..Shatta Walé is this n that ..bullshit talks ..myopic people .andy Dosty u grow ooo… Your coat like towel Da don u ppl no nothing about music ..Do u have family at all …Think money ooo and stop been a low minded person!!!” he tweeted.

Some men are not serious – MzVee

Ghanaian singer Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda known in the music industry as MzVee has said that some Ghanaian men are not serious.

Speaking on the Morning Zoo on Starr FM, MzVee said the attitude of some Ghanaian men inspired her hit song “Come and See ma Mother.”

The dancehall and RnB artiste noted some men would be dating a lady for more than six years yet they would not go to her home for the knocking ceremony.

According to her, it is only right for the man to take the initiative after that number of years to “knock” the doors of the girl’s mother to ask her daughter’s hand in marriage.

She added that this attitude doesn’t make the men serious, adding if a lady would take a man serious in a relationship he has “to go see the girl’s mother”

Speaking to host Grandmaster Nii Ayi Tagoe over the weekend, she said: “If you want to show your seriousness make it official, we girls are fragile.”

So it’s obvious Kuami Eugene is having such a great year, playing at almost every show. He was seen performing at the just ended GUBA Awards, then we also saw him performing at the Ghana Party In The Park which happened in the UK over the weekend.

During his performance at the Ghana Party In The Park, Kuami Eugene came on stage with a big white face towel and according to him, he picked that inspiration from Davido. He made a post on Instagram and mentioned Davido in it to let him know and as you know, the Superstar came with a witty comment under Rockstar’s post; “Return My Towel"

Because it has a resemblance of his hit track ‘If’, the line “30 billion” caught his ear and showed so much interest in the song.

It actually came as a real surprise because I never thought of landing a singer like Davido on my track that quick but boom it happened,” Kidi disclosed.

''“Shatta Wale is my bosom friend but that doesn’t mean if you and Shatta have problems so you’ll see me as an enemy. Even Prodigal is now our friend. We’re not fighting this battle with weapons. It’s a lyrical battle so if you and Shatta Wale have issues and because of that you call me a snitch then I have to hit back at you,” he said.

Nigerian Rapper Ice Prince Accuses Kuami Eugene Of Stealing His ‘Wish Me Well’ Song

The ‘Angela’ hitmaker, Kuame Eugene is gradually tainting his admirable reputation with the constant accusation of theft of music lyrics.
As a result, Ghanaians especially social media users are of the view that the Lynx Entertainment signee is not talented but only rides on people’s songs to elevate his status.
Recall that Kuami Eugene was ‘busted’ when he released ‘confusion’ song. This is because one Malian musician called Sidiki Diabaté who released the same version of the song back in 2015 accused Kuami Eugene of stealing his lyrics employed in the song dubbed ‘confusion’.
Bedsides, Kuami Eugene is in the news once again over sampling or better still stealing of lyrics. Thus, the youngster has been accused by fans of Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince of stealing the lyrics from his ‘Wish Me Well’ song.
Remember that ‘Wish Me Well’ was composed by Kuame Eugene with the idea to silence his critics who always troll him on social media for his bad sense of fashion.
Well, listening to the two songs below, it’s evidently clear that indeed our man sampled the song completely. It’s not a big deal though had he acknowledged the original composer, Kuami Eugen

e failed to acknowledge the Nigerian Hip-Hop artiste after sampling his song and that’s where the problem lies. The development is unfortunate because this is not the first time Kuami has be en accused of illegal sampling. With this, one can conclude that’s it’s a deliberate act on the part of Kuami Eugene to ride on people’s sweat to make name for himself.
