Shatta Wale and Sarkodie may be very close friends in the music industry, but today the dancehall artiste sort of ‘sold’ him out in a live radio interview with Hitz FM as part of his media tour to promote his upcoming album.
His interview with the Accra-based radio station was quite a lengthy one and he spoke about a lot of things. Shatta Wale in his interview expressed his disappointment in how some Ghanaian musicians go about the music business and how it affects him as a musician too.
It was during that discussion, that Shatta Wale disclosed that, Sarkodie had sent him a song for him to feature Strongman on it but has charged him a fee before he jumps on the feature. That revelation came after he was asked by the host if he’s ever charged Sarkodie for a feature.
The host, Andy Dosty was surprised that Shatta Wale was charging Sarkodie before featuring on Strongman’s song and asked him why he’s charging Sarkodie since he has a great relationship with him.
Shatta replied saying that, it’s true Sarkodie is a great friend but now it’s business and that when he featured him on their banger ‘Megye Wo Girl’, Sarkodie was never serious about shooting a music video for it but was very quick to shoot one when he featured another Nigerian artiste.
According to Shatta Wale, he reached out to Sarkodie on countless occasions on the need to shoot the video but he kept giving excuses and then the song faded away. He also added that, when he (Shatta Wale) featured Sarkodie on his song ‘Dancehall Commando’ back in 2014, he was broke then and so was expecting Sarkodie to support him to shoot the music video for him as a way of supporting him.
