Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy missed out on what would have been a historic win at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
A win by Morgan Heritage in the ‘Best Reggae Album’ category would have made the ‘Mama’ act the first Ghanaian to win a Grammy award.
The ‘Avrakedabra’ album by the legendary reggae group on which he is featured lost to Damian Marley’s ‘Stony Hill‘ at the awards event held on Sunday, January 28.
‘Chronology’ by Chronixx, ‘Lost in Paradise’ by Common Kings and ‘Wash House Ting’ by J Boog were the other albums in the category.
Stonebwoy became the second Ghanaian to earn a Grammy nomination for his feature on ‘Reggae Night (Global Remix)’ on the album by the reggae group released on May 19, 2017.
The 2018 Grammy Awards was held at the Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, United States of America, and was hosted by Comedian James Corden.
There were performances by Bruno Mars and Cardi B, Elton John, SZA, DJ Khaled with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, Childish Gambino, Lady Gaga, Logic with Alessia Cara and Khalid, and more
It was the first time since 2003 that the ceremony was held outside Los Angeles (where the Staples Center had been the home of the awards.)
